Addressing a Lincoln's birthday gathering of the Washington County Republican party, Utah GOP Chairman Robert Wright attacked Governor Mathe-son- s proposed sales tax elimination and outlined major Republican goals of this state legislative session, including passage of a 68.4 million dollar tax refund package. Calling property tax the worst and meanest tax of all, Wright said that 9.2 million dollars would be returned directly to property owners if the bill passed. Also in the GOP package, according to Wright, is an an income bill, designed to grajat income tax-cred- tax credit for amounts equalling 25 of an individuals property tax. "Property tax is hurting everyone, Wright said. It hurts the young marrieds who cant afford to buy homes and it hurts the elderly on a fixed income."
