On Monday, January twenty-secon- d, Judge Greenwood talked to the student body during the theology hour. He took for his theme the quotation from Dewey, That hour in human life is most serious when the individual passes from parental control into free manhood and womanhood; then must, the man bind the law upon himself stronger than ever father He said or mother bound it. that in this period in our lives there must be a heroism of selfenunciation or self control, for we are passing into free manhood, a transformation is taking place, the carving and building of character. We hope each year to gain a step, To broaden out our lives; To keep our minds enriched with good, And free from hatred, lust and strife. We hope to gain the love and trust Of teachers kind and true, And as students exchange affec- tions Which sweeten the life of youth. Now let this year be one bright, place To which we all may turn, With a sense of peace and restfulness In later lifes adjourn. Hazel Forsyth 17. My Resolution I resolve; To do my work, to keep my health, to live. To see to it, I grow, and gain, and give. Never to look behind me for an hour, To wait in weakness and to walk in power, But always facing forward to the light, Always, and always facing toward the right, Robbed, starved, defeated, fallen, wide astray, On with what strength I have, Back to the way.
