Suit Names LDS Bishop, Church in Malpractice A woman who contends that a bishop for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-daSaints gave her son air fare for a trip but failed to notify her is suing the bishop, his ward and the y Church for clerical malpractice. lawsuit filed Thursday by Pat White of Taylorsville named LDS Bishop Paul Blackburn, the Taylorsville 43rd LDS Ward and the LDS Church as defendants. The suit seeks $100,000 in damages. Mrs. White's lawyer, Brian M Barnard, said the suit may be the first of its kind in Utah The suit alleged that Mr Blackburn breached his duty as an ecclesiastical representative of the LDS Church when he gave Mrs. Whites on, Michael Chandler, then age 17, air fare for a trip to North Carolina but didn't tell her about it. Mr. Blackburn declined to respond to the allegation and others outlined m the suit He referred The Tribune to lawyer Allen M Swan of the Kirton McConkie & Bushnell law firm Mr Swan was out of Salt Lake City on Thursday and unavailable to comment.
