Lindh, who has logged fourth-an- d e finishes in Europa Cup competition this season, was stunned by her triumph. Im shocked, she said. Im as surprised as anyone. This may take a while to sink in. This is only my sec fifth-plac- ond time here, and I didnt think I could do so well so soon. I thought the if everybest I could do was third thing was perfect. I believe that if you work hard and do things right, everything will turn out all right. Archibald smiled. But," he said, I guess people will always talk. Utah Athletic Director Jim Copeland, meanwhile, said Archibald's job status at this point is not an issue as far as he's concerned. I guess talk like that is natural, Copeland said. But its kinda ridiculous when you look at our record now and what it could be a couple weeks down the road. 1 even if our record Regardless was bad Id have no decision like that right now. Id wait until the end of the season and then wed evaluate Lynn just like any other coach. Copeland, like Archibald, added a postscript to the his response. he said, most schools Hey, would be pleased very, very with this kind of season. pleased good-nature- d job-stat- , BYU Faces Critical Weekend at Home Continued From C-- l days ago, BYU last lost a basketball guess game. The conqueror was who? New Mexico, However, much has changed since that initial WAC road trip of the season, which saw BYU miss eight free throws down the stretch to drop an overtime decision at El Paso and shoot 50 percent from the line to lose by three at New Mexico. Since that afternoon in Albuquerque, when BYU Coach Andersen fainted in the locker room at halftime and later became embroiled in a dispute with referee Bill Simmons that led to a technical foul, the Cougars have won 10 consecutive games. The Lobos, in contrast, have lost five of their last eight. But even the New Mexico and BYU team portraits have changed since they last met in early January. in. New Mexico Coach Gary Colson 9 sophomore definitely suspended center Shawn Brooks and 6 freshman reserve guard Michael Moore for violating team rules earlier this week. BYU, meanwhile, will have Averian Parrish missing from the roster against the Lobos this time after the 1985 national junior college player of the year left school two weeks ago. But the personnel losses shouldnt be significant. Brooks, who was averaging 15.5 points in WAC competition, had six points and Moore failed to score against BYU on Jan. 4. Parrish contributed nine points for BYU. 60-5- 6-- 6-- Traditional Fluorescent Wraparound LIGHT FIXTURE FLUORESCENT Country Oak finish. Vinyl coated, solid steel sides. Ha , Wildcats to Battle Bobcats, Montana Continued From CCampbell, a 5 native of Southfield, Mich., who came to Weber from Ricks College. Its not so much of a revenge factor we are feeling this week. We just want to finish as well as we can, win the last five and help our final position. But we know we got our butts kicked against them and the pride factor will be going for us. Campbell is one of the more athletes on the team. In addition to scoring in double figures, he shoots 53 percent from the field and 50 percent from range. He averages five rebounds and 4.5 assists and, according to assistant coach his biggest imCraig Impleman provement this year has been an ability to extend his concentration over 40 minutes and exert more intensity on defense. Impelman also noted, He plays awfully well with his back to the basket, added the coach. There might be a reason for that, stated Campbell, who took former Lady Wildcat Jan Egbert as his bride last Augusut. In high school I was a center. I ve grown ve inches since leaving high school. But I learned to play with my back to the basket, and I think that early training has helped me overall. Campbell finally emerged as a player during his sophomore season at Ricks. He averaged 16 points per game and decided Weber State would be his final collegiate stop. Now, it remains whether Campbell and the Wildcats can adjust to the strengths of Montana and Montana State.
