world of mime Adults know him from solo concerts as well as his acting appearances in local pro ductions including "Saturday's 1 Jo i Voyeur" Saturday Pitti returns to The Broadway Stage 272 S Main to present his second annual mime benefit concert for the Utah AIDS - Foundation Last April his con cert raised $2000 for MP' and he hopes this year's version will surpass that figure Unlike some benefits where the theater and the performer receive a share of the proceeds all monies from Pitti's concert will go directly to the charity Ben Barr executive director of UAF said Pitti has donated his time and William Sargent Broadway Stage artistic director has donated the theater Barr added that while UAF is not : hi debt the organization is broke ''We're extremely grateful to 7 :oe for doing this" Barr said "He out on his own and makes all - goes the arrangements and unselfishly gives his time" Barr said local bands have pre sented concerts to benefit IMF but to his knowledge Pith is the only single performer who has do- nated an entire concert to the local : organization :4 4 al 4 ' which I hope will continue to be an annual event is a way for me to raise some money for the foundation and feel that I am doing something to contribute to helping those who are ill" Barr said the average age of a person with AIDS is 30 but there are Utahns 9 months to 75 years old with the disease Since 1983 376 cases of AIDS have been reported in Utah 228 men women and children have died "There is a misconception" Barr added "that AIDS is something that happens someplace else That is simply not true It happens News personnel at KUER (FM 90) have compiled a radio documentary focusing on the Scofield mining disaster an explosion that killed 200 miners and left 107 widows and 268 orphans in the remote Utah town in the spring of 1900 The program will air Thursday at 6:30 pm The documentary features interviews with children of the victims who recall the accident 91 years after it occurred and offers a look at the myths and traditions surrounding the disaster Utah State University football and basketball games will air on KUTR (AM 1320) beginning this fall radio station The Salt Lake-base- d recently signed an agreement with the USU Sports Radio Network Proceedings are under way to announce program times and schedules that will involve Aggie fans locally The USU Sports Radio Network an enterprise of Logan businessman Steven W Skinner involves 10 other radio stations throughout the Intermountain region that also carry the Aggie games KUTR is a Price Com- -
