page years in double harness during which time an empire has grown up about them mr and abid mrs gilbert tr truly lire are to be congratulated upon that splendid achievement george 11 gilbert was born in cornwall england june ezrd 3rd 1837 ile he came to utah in 1852 and moved to brigham city in 1858 in the springtime his wife henrietta noble was born in Ir chester northampton england aug 11 1837 and came to utah in 1860 locating in smithfield utah ills father W G noble was a local missionary sn in the church ot of jesus christ ot of latter day saints in the old country accepting the gospel in 1840 sv so sister gilbert has been a member of 0 the church practically all her life mr and mrs gilbert were united la in marriage in this city on the 10 day of february 1862 john D reese performing the ceremony that was long defore before there were any temples or even endowment house they comme aced life under tinder magro circumstances as was the ra fir those days but they were wera and contented in each others love airing the fifty years that have elapsed those sentiments have grown deeper and deeper for many years their sweet voices were heard in the tabernacle choir which was then under the direction of R L fishburn Fis liburn sr the celebration of their golden gold en wedding was held sunday after j won coon and evening J jan an the reason that the time better suited the convenience of members of the daml ly A sumptuous wedding dinner was served at the family home in the afternoon ter noon and the evening was spent at the homo home of sir mr and mrs airs leroy C nelson across the street the bridal pair were showered with many beautiful presents appropriate to the oc assion and during the evening the company vied with each other in n making the honored couple happy mr and mrs gilbert stood up as they did aid fifty years ago and mayor R L fishburn enacted again that ceremony that united them together another feature of the evening was the making of a record on the phonograph by br mr air gilbert who sang a song assisted by his son acquilla and F W fishburn the record was entirely successful and mr gilberts voice will be preserved as long as time lasts the family ot of this worthy couple consists of five children twenty one grand children and four great grand children all living all the children were present except one nho mho resides in idaho and
