Walsh gave the reasons he loves coaching He gave the reasons it's a job that wears you down And he outlined reasons he might be back as the 49ers’ coach in 1989 and why his third Super Bowl in eight seasons makes for a perfect ending to his coaching career But he never revealed his decision “Personally I don’t have any more goals other than I love the work” Walsh said Monday “It’s part of my life and I love it On the other hand I’ve been doing this 31 years” Walsh refused to disclose his plans Bowl news conferat a ence although there are strong indications he will announce his retirement no later than Thursday He plans to meet possibly Tuesday with 49ers’ owner Ed DeBartolo Jr The speculation continues that Walsh has made the decision to quit and all that remains is outlining his new role with the 49ers Walsh intends to at least fulfill the last year of his contract which pays him $13 million But he wouldn’t commit to his future less than 12 hours after the 49ers 6 defeated the
