Raivhr Brings Siiccesis Dad never was in a position to hire anyone, and his only firing experiences involved his old shotgun or .22 rifle. But as a hunter, he developed a technique which those hunting athletic coaches might consider. My Dad was a good "wing shot" in those days of the Great Depression because with a family of seven to feed, he couldn't waste shells, even if they cost only a few pennies apiece. Early in our hunting companionship, he gave me this advice: Son, when a flock goes over, no matter how many birds there are, or how massed the flight, pick out one bird and make sure you drop it. If two or more happen to fall, fine, but blazing blindly into the flock only wastes shells and opportunity." All good scattergunners know that, but how does that apply to hunting for coaches? The same advice applies, as you shall see. While in high school, many of the upperclassmen in the neighboring towns spent some time visiting the campus of Iowa State Teachers College, where the ratio of women to male students was Even high school boys could get a welcome at the college dances, and we all spent many evenings dancing. "This is just talk and I'd be very surprised: I haven't heard anything I ruin above." said Nissalke. When asked what it would take to turn the Jazz around, if he continued as coach, Nissalke said, "I didn't know we were thought to be a top team. I don't know ll we can turn the club around." The Jazz had to leave Dallas at 5:30 in the morning Wednesday to get here to play this game, but Nissalke refused to use that as an excuse. In fairness to Stevens, though, when he coached at BYU, the Cougars had not committed themselves to the athletic excellence the program has enjoyed in more recent years.
