Show GARBAGE CANS the other othe r day a citizen and taxpayer of brigham city made tho the remark brigham city has every natural advantage tor for a healthful sanitary city but there are a few items that need to be improved in order to moke make correct sanitation possible one of them garbage cans along the business district attention was then called to the practice of the merchants for which they are not to be blamed ol of sweeping out their stores deposit ing in the dirt on the pavement in front ot of their places of business and then men sweeping the pavement afi ok into the irrigating ditch letting the paper and other refuse matter float down the creek maybe to clos clog up the culvert at the forest street crossing or else to continue on to first N to mingle with the waters there the ditch on aiato street is brig aham ham cites sewer and while it serves its purpose well it Is anything but a pleasing thing to see the channel clogged up with refuse of every kind and description which remains to decay and become foul when the water is turned out it if a tew few garbage cans were prok provided aided it at different along main alain and forest streets to cover tho business section of town and then an ordinance was wad passed making it unlawful to throw any paper banana peel orange peel or other refuse refus e upon the sidewalks or streets within the garbage district tho the looks and sanitation of 0 the town would be materially improved this is a matter that has been discussed in a nu number aber ot of years land and we believe that the board of health could inaugurate no better improvement pro right now than this matter of garbage cans which could by be emptied at regular later intervals and kept in A sanitary condition |
