Show AN EARLY RESIDENT OIES DIES on monday last funeral services were held in the seventh ward w ard ot of salt lake city over the remains of mrs lovina lee whittaker formerly a resident of brigham city airs whitaker was born in northampton england may alay 15 1858 and as she grew in years she entered a shoo shoe factory and became proficient at fitting that is she was an expert in preparing the uppers for the solers holers to work upon she became converted to mormonism and left england tor foi utah in company with her mother mother in 1878 coming direct to brigham city where they entered the shoe department of the n B C al SI AI association known as the coop co op where they worked as fitters tor for a year and were the first experts in that line in this city at the end of a year the lees moved back to salt lake city where inhere they became associated with the Z C al 1 shoe department under the late W 11 rowe who was then manager and they were among the i ery first expert shoe I 1 fitters to do work in the state aorl for several years they labored in the Z C af I 1 factory and then hen became associated with solomon brothers another pioneer shoe manufacturing company i of the state inhere here they worked d until myron whittaker came along and claimed lovina as his bride twenty seven years ago after the marriage of her daughter mrs airs lee gave up her profession and lived a quiet life with her daughter she is still living at the age of sa beai n sirs airs lee the mother was a sister to grandfather noble father of the wives of hon R L fishburn all of whom will be remembered by the older resi dents of this city mrs whittaker will also doubtless be remembered by those who were familiar with the operations erat ions of 0 the B C at III A as she occupied such prominent position with this institution her residence here hon F IV Fishbu Fis liburn nl went down to salt lake on monday to be present at the funeral rey moices vices |
