Show WHAT ARE THESE NINE REGIONS ANYWAY? Each of Utahs nine travel regions are divisions organized to promote tourist travel in Utah. The Regions were organized by local citizens and government officials with the help of the Utah Travel Council. Each one operates differently but theyre all funded the same way and they all have the same purpose. The funding comes from the transient room tax, a value added tax (like sales tax) paid by people who stay in motels. It varies from 1 V2 to depending on the county, but it can only be spent for one thing: travel promotion and development. multi-coun- ty 3, WHATEVER DO THEY DO? Each Region provides information to tourists in the form of brochures and other literature about their own special attractions and activities. Each Region does advertising in newspapers, on the radio and other media, and each Region has a tourist information center where people can stop and learn all about the part of Utah theyre visiting. The Regions also work closely with the Utah Travel Council to develop promotional programs and to maintain the four Port of Entry Visitors Centers that grace the State.
