Show (Delayed in mail last week.) The body of the Infant son of Mr. and Mrs. George W. McCall was brought here from Kenilworth and buried Tuesday. The little one had lived only a few days after birth. Mrs. McCall is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Jewkes. The father, brother, and a few others accompanied . the body here where other friends and relatives were ready and willing to do whatever they could to show their love and sympathy for those bereaved.. Word was received here from Sterling Sterl-ing Tuesday of the death of Will Thompson who was killed in France a short times ago while In action at the front fighting for. the liberty and freedom free-dom of the world. It surely cast a gloom over our community for his parents, and especially his widowed mother, are known by so many here and all who know her love her. She is a sweet patient little woman who has had a great deal more sorrows than come to most of us and we all feel to mourn and sympathize with her and pray the Lord to bless and comfort her. J. B. Crawford and Mrs. Maggie Peacock of Orangeville, and Nathaniel Crawford of Ferron, brothers broth-ers and sister of the bereaved mother, left as soon as possible after the word reached here to go and comfort their sister, who is in a very bad condition so grief-stricken her heart is nearly broken. Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Taylor have just returned from Salt Lake City where Mrs. Taylor has been to receive medical attention for a very bad leg. She feels much improved. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Reid are entertaining enter-taining a large crowd of relatives at a dinner party this (Friday evening) Miss Delia Reid, accompanied Jesse D. Jewkes back to Salt Lake City where she expects to have a nice visit with her people and friends. The two Beehive swarms, Cloin and Vyo, decided to have a real swarm upon the lawn of the leading queen, Mrs. John Taylor, who is working so hard to make a success of the bees and who is ever ready and willing to make life more pleasant for all around her and whom the girls love and appreciate ap-preciate so much. All say they never had a better time of It did take the assistance as-sistance of a flashlight to find the boys, and, after finding them, treated them to stuffed olives. Mrs. A. A. Van Buren has been very 111 but at this writing we hear is much better. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Crawford, Miss Jennie Crawford, and Miss Flora Tuttle Tut-tle have all gone upon the mountain for a week's pleasure. Our people certainly enjoyed the grand lecture which Prof. Archer Wit-ley Wit-ley gave last Sunday evening, also the Instructions Mrs. Josie Childs gave In regard to special meetings and lectures we will be favored with this fall and winter. Bryan Reid just returned home -from Salt Lake City where he has been working for some time to bid his people peo-ple and friends goodbye as he and Bryan Fox are to leave next week ta join thee olors. In our writing last week in regard to the grand canyon picnic party, we did not say that it was at the beautiful beauti-ful farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Will Johnson and that it was they who gave us the great treat of raspberries and cream. No nicer berries grow-anywhere! grow-anywhere! All the stockmen . have come home from their big ride up among the stock where they found everything lovely. Some of the boys thought they now had a good chance to try riding rid-ing fat steers so as to be able to show us what they could do to amuse us at the next bucking contest and were not slow to take advantage of the opportunity. |
