Show - - HUNTINGTON i The conference was a thorough success. suc-cess. Tht weather was fine for the most part and the people came in good numbers. The house was in ap-DleDie ap-DleDie orders so that all were comfort able. At the last session there were over 600 people who listened to the interesting in-teresting talks especially of the visi- tors from Salt Lake who exhorted all 'to live faithful lives and be patriotic and true to Uncle Sam in these days of sorrow that peace and liberty may soon come. C. L. Allen of Huntington, who was operated upon for appendicitis at Salt Lake, is in a critical condition. We have hopes of his pulling through, however. Mrs. Allen is with him at the hospital. On Tuesday last A. M. Truman, our new postmaster, took possession of the : office, the old employees lining him up on his duties as distributor of the L". S. mail He will no doubt be onto ! his job with a little practice of hunting the whereabouts of the different boxes. box-es. All will have to extend a little patience. ! Lumber from the Mart Jensen mill ! is beginning to fifld its way down to town, young Wakefield making his word good in the matter. An assortment assort-ment will soon be in evidence and now is the time to get your supplies before Uncle Sam gets a hold on it. Mrs. Julia Wakefield Is still quite poorly but we still keep hoping she will take a change for the better. Our old brother, Bengt. Johnson, is just lingering along, and we have but little hope of his rallying again on account ac-count of his ripe old age (89 years.) We feel that it is only a matter of time with him and his long sincere life has made him ready and willing to go. We know of no other sick in town, , the health of the people being generally general-ly good. The storms of the last three or four days have caused lots of water to go down the swales and washes of our neighborhood, doing considerable dam-' dam-' age to crops of hay and grain. But, j on the other hand, we realize It Is do-, do-, ing much good on the range, making , grass grow, etc. w. s. s. |
