Show E. S. A. NOTES Thursday, Oct. 5th, was Election day and a great deal of enthusiasm was manifest. Thursday the Juniors gathered en masse in room 11 and issued forth with determined faces that promised no luck for aspiring candidates candi-dates of the other classes. The Seniors showed a little concern and gathered in groups talking in subdued but earnest earn-est tones. It was quite evident that they too had plans. Bryan Reid was chosen as temporary tempo-rary chairman. Harry Mortensen immediately im-mediately took the floor and in glowing glow-ing terms and earnest gestures portrayed por-trayed the necessity of ha.ving the right ri-ght man at the head and then nomi nated Ralph Jensen as president. Clair Oliphant was also nominated but it appeared that Harry's eloquence won the day, at least Ralph was elected elect-ed with an overwhelming majority. The other officers elected are as follows: Jennie Seely, vice-president. Loona Johnson, secretary. Perry Day, yell-master. Van Acord, athletic manager. Bryan Reid, debating manager. Fern Young, school editor. On Friday separate class elections were held and on Friday night our big get-acquainted dance held sway. Next Friday from 9.4 5 to 10.54 a. m., the student body officers will give the following program. Everybody Invited especially parents and patrons. pa-trons. Ralph Jensen Corne Solo Howard Perkins Comic Reading Leona Johnson School Paper Fern Young Duet Jennie and Dora Seely Reading of Y'ells Perry Day What our School Intends to Be by-Spring by-Spring Bryan Reid Athletic Victories Van Acord Wednesday Morning Judge Christenson Chris-tenson and Brother O. J. Anderson were E. S. A. visitors. Judge Christenson Chris-tenson spoke very interestingly of the reward of school teachers and the influence of their precepts. Brother Anderson also spoke in his earnest, encouraging manner. Brother Martin returned Monday from Salt Lake City where he attended attend-ed the meeting of principals of all church schools. Work has begun in real earnest in all the various departments and th ? indications are that this will be our banner year. Work commenced in the laboratory on Monday with twenfv five students in physics and twelve in chemistry. Don't forget the program Friday! |
