COMES BACK TO COUNTY The total recipts of the Mantl National Na-tional Forest for the fiscal year end- 1 ing June 30, 1918. were (31,301.10 from the following sources: Timber sales $ 4,270.21 Grazing, cattle and horses. 12.619.17 Grazing, sheep 13,885.92 Grazing trespass 4 2.00 Special uses 466.80 Water power permits 17.00 Total $31,301.10 Of this amount, 25 per cent, or J7.825.27, is returned to the counties in which the forest lies to be used for schools and roads and an additional 10 per cent, or $3,130.11 is expended by the Secretary of Agriculture upon roads and trails constructed primarily for the benefit of settlers within the Forests. So that of every dollar paid to I the Government in grazing fees or for ; timber, 35c of that dollar comes right j back to the people in the form of uet-: uet-: ter schools and roads. |
