Show Regulations Urge Cordial Relations. The following paragraph of Army Regulations is the only rule now existing exis-ting regarding the relationship between be-tween officers and enlisted men: "Superiors are forDldden to injure those under their authority by tyrannical tyranni-cal or capricious conduct or by abusive ab-usive language. While maintaing discipline dis-cipline and the thorough and prompt performance of military duty, all officers, of-ficers, in dealing with enlisted men, , will bear in mind the absolute necessity neces-sity of so treating them as to preserve their self-respect. Officers will keep I in as close touch as possible with the j men under their command, will strive to build up such relations of confidence confi-dence and sympathy as well insure the free approach of their men to them for counsel and assistance. This relationship re-lationship may be gained and mamain-tained mamain-tained without relaxation of the bonds of discipline and with great benefit to the service as a whole." |
