Show ' EMERY STAKE ACADEMY Xow don't you think the defeat of the "old stars" was a good omen! Our players went to Huntington last Friday Fri-day and Vhite-washed that team with the score 41 to 22. The first and second teams have since been practicing prac-ticing vigorously preparing for further fur-ther .success. Last Saturday night clamped the climax of Forum. The refreshment committee showed their loyalty for the occasion by serving liberal dishes of icecream and generous slices of cake. Twelve students entered the tryout, each doing his best, which was in no case less than very creditable. The question debated was whether or not the state of Utah should adopt a graduated grad-uated income tax. Ramona Wall and Rulon Snow were chosen for the first team which will meet Price Mar. 21, at Price. Those chosen for the second team were Xettie Larsen and Alvin Soderquist. A lively interest which will not soon die out has now-been now-been kindled in this line. Our devotional periods are lively affairs af-fairs now, each morning having a special spe-cial feature including also a moment 1 or two of yell-practicing, but Fridays ; are "extras." Last Friday readings, i songs, and musical selections had their place with an ovation to top them off. In these programs we aim to bring to new. light hidden talent by giving everybody a chance, and we think we are doing it. The Domestic science room shows signs of late improvements and the girls announce that something is going go-ing to be "pulled off" by that department depart-ment next month about the 15th, but don't talk too much about it 'cause they don't like gossip. , The indoor tennis court is now marked off and we are ready for real business. The tennis club organized last week with Miss Florence Lemmon as president of the girls' club and Alvin Al-vin Soderquist as president of the boys'. A fee of 25c was charged for membership and already our . list of members shows rapid growth. Hours have been arranged for boys and girls and tennis is certainly going to be a welcome addition in the routine of school life. |
