Mendenhall, one of Huntington's I newly-gained farmers who formerly lived liv-ed at Mapleton in Utah county and who knows vividly what sugar beets mean to a country, has secured a farm and signed us for 15 acres of beets. Burton and Neilson, the well known farmers and capitalists who recently purchased the Jeffs-Dickson ranch on Huntington creek, it is reported, are preparing to paint 200 aores of beets next year. It will be remembered that they have already signed up for 100 acres. Silas Shiner who has done considerable consider-able freighting for local houses in the past feels so disconsolate!?) at the coming com-ing of a railroad that he took particular pains to hunt up the secretary of the sugar beet culture committee and get his John Henry on a contract for 5 acres, dropping several words of encouragement en-couragement that mean much to those who are doing everything within their power to awaken the people to the full meaning of the proposition now before hem. |
