Show WATER ACAIN FLOWS TO EMERY'S BIC FARM With a big smile L. C. Moore was in from his big ranch to pay up his taxes Tuesday. The smile was not on account of having a big wad of taxes to pay but on account of having the ditch again in working order and water flowing down to the ranch. There is another reason too -he is now the leasee of the ranch for a term of years and can work the land as he pleases. In fact it is the ; "Moore Ranch"from this time on, which means that there will be something do- ing there early and late each year and I each day. ' The ditch has been repaired tempor-I tempor-I arily only this fall, enough to get the water through, in the spring it will be put into first class shape and kept that way. Of the luOO acres in cultivation Mr. Moore will probably rent out 500 acres and farm and pasture 500. Much of it is in lucern and this will be cultivated as the main crop on the part he reserves for his own use. There is also considerable consider-able fruit which will be given the best of care. Mr. Moore will stock the place with pure bred stock, making hogs and chickens his specialties. He already has a fine start of pure Barred Plymouth Rock chickens and a good many hogs. For seeding the place he will get the best varieties of pure seed to start from and thinks he can make corn a profitable crop by getting an early dent. However, for feeding purposes his main crop will be roots of different kinds, ' sugar beets being perh ips the most ! grown. For preparing these he will get a root cutter and gasoline engine. In fact the big Moore Ranch at Rochester Ro-chester is going to be cultivated from this on so as to practically take the place of a demonstration farm for this part of the country. This cannot fail to be of value to everyone. |
