Dance is really booming in the united States. This year there are approximately dance companies in the (up from 450 in 1973). And approximately 17,000,000 people will buy tickets to see them in 1979. What they'll see is a wide range of dance, from classical ballet to modern to ethnic, fusions of two or more types, and some very innovative ideas. UTAH is proudly in the thick of all this activity, boasting of four companies of national stature - Ballet West, Repertory Dance Theatre and Virginia 850 U.S Ririe-woodbur- Tanner's Children's Dance Theatre. Because of all the dance action here, Utah is ranked SECOND TO NEW on the American dance scene. Recognizing the importance of dance to Utahns, Governor Scott Matheson has proclaimed YORK Apnl So 23-2- 9 Utah Dance Week. enjoy! good place to start the Trolley Square Amphitheatre (6th South entrance) at 12 noon Monday through Friday. Each day you'll see three different groups performing ballet, mime, ethnic and modem dance. A real midday treat! Other concerts include-- . Ballet west's "Graduation Bail" at the College of Eastern Utah, Price, on Monday; "Awakenings - A Night of Mormon Dance" on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Kingsbury Hall; and Danceworks HOW? A is Concert by Donna White & Company at 8 p.m. at the Kimball Art Center, Park City (call for ticket informat- ion). Pius square dancing in the Weber State Union Ballroom on Wednesday at 8 p.m., & a free Fred Astaire Ginger Rogers movie, "Swing Time," on Friday at 7:30 in the Trolley Square amphiic theatre. for everyone, wouldn't you agree?
