Show NEW STEEL CULVERTS READY FOR INSTALLATION A load of twenty steel culverts to be used on the state road through the county arrived at Castledale Thursday afternoon and was unloaded at the court house yard by County Road Supervisor W. S. Peacock. It is not definitely known in which parts of the road the culverts will be used, but they will be distributed all along the highway and put where they are needed most. The culverts that are here now are all that will be put in this season but as soon as possible all the ditches crossing the public pub-lic highways will be covered with steel culverts. When this is completed no one need be afraid of breaking through with any kind of machinery used on country roads. There will be a less fine for breaking through then too. There ia a large force of men working on the county road just north of Frank Johnson's ranch between Huntington and Castledale. The work is being su- ; pervised by Heber Frandsen. Accord-1 ing to reports the road from the first , hill south of Huntington to what is j known as the Gap in the south field has j been worked thoroughly and teams henceforth will experience little trouble ; with the mud. Special attention will also be given the wash near the Def riez place south of Huntington. This bridg; has been a flimsy concern for some time. The bridges are supposed to be capable of ' sustaining 6,000 pounds and the country j will be liable for any damage sustained j should anything not exceeding this weight break through. The bridges must all be put in firstclass shape and ' be able to support that weight before ! the new bridge ordinance can be en- j forced. Emery county expects to have one of the best county roads in the state, and why shouldn't we? Our county com- missioners are alive to our needs. Mr. Peacock and his deputies are men, too, who will carry out the wishes of the commissioners. |
