They are conducting clean up campaigns and landscaping homes, playgrounds, parks, public buildings, farmsteads, and business premises to enhance their beauty. These activities are stimulated by the Civic Beautification Awards Program conducted in the state each year by The Salt Lake Tribune in cooperation with the Utah Associated Garden Clubs and the Utah State University Extension Services. Yet, this effort, in terms of needed improvements, is still in its infancy. Judging will be by actual visits to thp proj(cts. Judging on the regional basis will be the first part of August with state judging to follow. Certificates of Merit will be presented to winners of the regional contest with the state winners receiving plaques. These awards will be given at the midwinter meeting of the Utah Associated Garden Clubs to be held in January 1963.
