Show FERRON Mrs. Abigail Stevens who was wrap- ped in robes of death last Tnursliy j morning was laid away to rest in our i local cemetery Sunday afternoon. Sis-! Sis-! ter Stevens had been a sufferer from dropsy for over four years, and it was ns.aoubt a relief to her when her Maker j called her away to rest. Funeral ver-vices ver-vices were held at 2 p. m. Sunday after-I after-I noon the choir singing, "Resting Now from Care and Sorrow;" Invocation, ' I Peter Peterson; "The Resurrection Day" Dy tne choir. The speakers were Mrs. Petereas Hitchcock of Clawson, I Mr. John Broderick of Emery, Mrs. ; Samuel Singleton of Ferron and Bishop ! Brinkerhoff of Emery. They all spoke of the faithfulness of the sister. Touching Touch-ing remarks were made that brought tears to the eyes of many. Sister Abe-gail Abe-gail was a woman who had alwiys tried to live as near her Maker as she could, trying in her weak way to live the principles prin-ciples of the gospel and according to circumscances she has been a faithful servant. No.v her work on this earth is finished and when the morning of the first resurrection conies the Lord will open the door to t is dear sister and will say, "Well done, my humble servant." ser-vant." Many encouraging words were given to the grieving relatives and friends, that they may follow in tne footsteps of their beloved mother and wife; that they may be worthy to partake par-take of the blessings of the Lord ai d be -crowned with glory in the hereatter. "Nearer My God to Thee," was sung by Mrs. Biohap Bnnkerhoif, and "I Need Thee E ery Hour", was the doting dot-ing song, sung by the choir. Benediction Benedic-tion by C. K. Jensen. The deceased leaves behind her many mourning relatives and friends. Sne is toe mother of seven children, four boys and three girls, besides many grand children, thirteen great grand chil. r. n, and a host of friends to mourn her .le-mise. .le-mise. There was a good house of friends to pay their last respects to the sister who has now left us. Many swtei remembrances re-membrances in the form of beauciful flowers were pUeeu upon the casket. After the services the body was taken to the cemetery where she was peace-1 fully laid away to rest. (continued on last page) PERRON The 24th of July celebration as observed ob-served at Ferron was a pleasing one. Agoodprogram which had been arranged by the committee took place at 10 a. m. and every part was well enjoyed but the crown of the program was the oration given by Lowry Nelson. Several musical selections were given by 'the .band under the leadership of Melvin Henrie and Will Hansen. At 2 p. m. a dance was given for the children and following the-dance came different races, wrestling matches and a big hop at night. Although we had a little rain the clay be, ore a good crowd .was out and we believe all enjoyed themselves. We waited patiently to see the big game of ball between our home boys and onj of the neighboring towns but it was all in vain, the game falling to the single boys anc married men. Yes, we have a goo 1 ball team over here, call on our boys, f i i nds. Mr. Will Hansen made a flying trip to Manti a few weeks ago, and didn'c get home in time for the holidays. Then what did Kate do? Sundaymorn, Ida, the eldest d tighter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Behunin, acci dently took a few .poison tablets which her mother hid for washing purposes. It caused a great deal of excitement but Dr. Graham was called and the young lady was soon on the improve. "Be more careful, Ida." Mrs. J. R. Llewellyn and children left Ferron Tuesday momiug for Price, where they will visit relatives and friends. The little babe of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Dugmore has been very ill for a couple of weeks but from reports she is now improving. Our town has been mourning mourn-ing over the lingering case for sometime and we feel to extend cur deepest sympathy to the parents. Mi.-s B-lle Baal accidently -run a nail in iierfoot and she his been unable to get around v.;ry ;vell. The accident occurred so.ne three weks ago. Miss Blanch Hitchc'-k of Cl.iwson is taking music lessons under the direction of Mis3 Ruth Hansen. A good many of our people are taking their summer vacation on the mountain. |
