AS FEED FOR HORSES the principal forage utah is lu I 1 ut many horsemen unfortunate ly object to it use throughout the state there is still ice against feeding it the be ing that it acts injuriously on the ki 1 levs liven men are espee ally opposed tilts use the frequently pay twice is much tor timoth ns lu ern the merits of alfalfa hay and timothy ha were investigated some deais ago bf fie ariter la tests with vork 1 ores and driving horses which extended over tour bears in some of thajo tests as m iba as pounds of al fiffi timothy hay with 10 dounda of bran and shorts nas fed per bea 1 da ly in other tests the amo int of hay was i cons durably smaller and the amount of grain larger in some cabes oata were fed instead of bran and shorts gener ally speaking tho timothy ration was the more expensive and the dorsus did not maintain then weight oo 00 it as well is on the alfalfa antion the ciure ie effect of lucern evaa also studied and it was found that the hors es excreted more urine than on other feeds but not enough more to giuse any inconvenience from the experiments conducted at various sta ions the writer is convinced that considered pound for pound lucern luc ern is superior to timothy as a horse teed deseret up
