It is is be expected that the usual amount of moaning will be done by sport wiseacres in connection with the selection of the mythical team. The writer believes it is a fair and unbiased selection and includes the n most outstanding players ' fcS Ti- 1 Vf I I i v, c's- I It v ll 7 the MANY OF OPINIONS get down to the bare To facts, the scribe asked the opinion of several coachesof and the officials in the selection mythical teams. Coach Kenneth Vanderhoff of the Logan junior to high school, and who proved be a very popular official aided considerably in the selections. Logan showed marked super-in place iority in winning first the loop and were well deservor possible ing of four players five on the first eleven. North in finished Boxelder Cache and a tie for second place, Ogden in fourh and Preston and Bear River next in line. Worley of Logan is named capThis tain of the first team. chap was the makings of the Logan team and with the exception of Coach Burns Crookston had more to do with the fine success the Grizzlies enjoyed, than any other individual. He knows his football, he can kick, on pass if necessary, is goodabove defense and offense and all is a natural leader, well liked by his teammates and one of the greatest open field runners ever seen on a high school , gridiron in northern Utah. His open field running of a year ago was a revelation and at the start of the present season, Lo-he was a marked man on the gan team but even at that among his many outstand.ng performances was a 99 yard run for touchdown against Ogden. RASMUSSEN LEADS BEE ELEVEN A Floyd Rasmussen, Boxelders dynamic quarterback is a great field general and triple threat man. Against Logan he was a constant threat with his brilliant foolball tactics and is without a doubt one of the most colorful players in the Region. He is placed at quarterback ,on the mythical team and Worley at hslfb&ck Ace Johnson, of North Cache another triple threat man who tips the beam at around 175 pounds, is placed at halfback. Bor .the past three years, Johnson has been an important cog in the North Cache football machine and this season after ilaying end for two years, Hebe Whiting shifted him to quarterback and his fine generalship, running, kicking and passing was a big factor in the Bulldogs success, Kent Ryan, Logans piledriving fullback, gets the nod at this position. Bergeson of North Cache is a good man but not the all around versatile player that Ryan is. The Logan star Is a triple threat man and can not only hit the line for substantial gains but Is a fairiy good boy in the open field. What a backfield. Every player a triple threat man, good ground gainers, smart football players, and good on defense and offense. This quartet of backs comprises the most outstanding array of talent gathered on a Region one high school VI TURKEY SHOOT Sunday, Nov. 22 AT LEGION TRAPS JOHNSONS GROVE Trap and Rifle Shooting A. All Jurkeys Weigh 15 Pounds or More! gridiron since the Ogden-Cach- e district was organized four years GETS PIVOT POSITION Ed Quinney, fighting Logan center, received the center position. Quinney is a heady chap and clever at diagnosing opposing tactics completely offset this disadvantage. 'Buck" Durfey of Bear River and Lyle Tripp of North Cache were placed at guards on the first team. Durfey is one of the smartest lineman uncovered in years and has the ability to analyse football situations rapidly. Tripp is a big fellow and is one of these hard working boys that get but very little credit- He is captain of the North Cache team and officials maintain he knows his football. L. H. Kennard, the powerful Logan boy, and Jeppson of Boxelder are the two best tackles in Ogden-CachBothered with a bad knee at the start of the season, it was questionable whether Kennard would be able to stand the gaff. But the quite unassuming boy proved a big cog in the fine playing of the Logan forward wall. Jeppson was a colorful performer throughout the season and with his 180 pounds was a tough man to move- The problem of choosing the two most outstanding ends was a hard job. Foulger of Ogden, Hull of Logan; Rawlins and Bair of North Cache are all good ends and . it is practically a toss-- i. However Foulger, mainly snowing hr the Logan-Ogdgame receiv ed first team mention. A husky chap by the name of Milton Dailey from Preston was placed at the other wing position. Although Dailey played tackle for the Indians his performances throughout the season were of such an outstanding nature, as to entitle him to Regional recognition. , e. The R. M.
