Our Hero, the Sheik, played by Scott Holman, returning in a lead role after his talents in minor roles in the last few Desert Star productions, is the essence of a true hero, who has Alice, played by Kerstin Andersen, under his spell and head over heals in love from the moment the two meet in the Arabian Desert. The catch here is that Alice is engaged to Percy, played by Ben E. Millet and the Sheik is without a county, having been robbed of it by his dastardly cousin The Wazir, played appropriately by Jack Drayton. Despite the desire to always boo The Wazir when he makes an appearance, Drayton is excellent in the role audiences love to hate. And although The Wazir has the country the Thursday and Friday; .Noon, 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday. Hale Centre . Theatre, 3333 S. This week's Music events Sheik wants returned to him, he does not have the power that goes with it until he finds the Star of Shamir. In probably her best role as one of the Desert Star Players is Holly Braithwait, as Omir, servant to the Sheik, who enchants ropes with her extraordinary saxophone playing and is charming as she flies through the air on her magic carpet. Rounding out the cast are Mary Parker Williams as Jasmine, the Wazir's ditzy assistant, Patrick Rosier as Ramin, the Shieks protector and Matt Kohler as Yakimd, the old wizard who never seems to get anything right. Even the piano player, Ben Mayfield, gets brought into the act. The twist and turns of The Shiek are fun and enjoyable, the rewritten lyrics of popular songs fitting for the meaning of the show, from a new version of "Yellow Submarine, sung by Holman and Braithwait, to the romantic, and amusing take off of 'Til There Was You" by Holman and Anderson. Throw in oneliners and asides about Utah lifestyle and ad libs that are often signature work by many Desert Star players and the Shiek will become one of the most fun experiences one can have in the desert at the Desert Star. The Shiek, or Will You Be My Valentino, continues Mondays, Thursdays through Saturdays through Sept. 14. Tickets are: 2 The Desert Star Theater is located at: 4861 S.
