Initially, the Folk Arts Festival was to include many other groups who had previously performed at the Folk Arts Festival in both West Valley and Bountiful. Due to either immigration restrictions, limitations on tourist visas and denial of visa extensions, many performing groups had to return to their counuies and could not attend this year's festival. Those dance companies who could not stay in the U.S. for the festival said they would change their performance dates next year in order to participate in the 2003 festival. Magna water reserves increase with new reservoir Bv COLIN DOUGLAS Contributor Magna Water Company's new Bacchus Reservoir and a new production well went on line on July 1. According to Ed Hansen, manager of Magna Water, the completed facilities will almost double Magna Water's reserve capacity. Magna Water's current reserve capacity is 9.5 million gallons. The new reservoir, located near the intersection of 4100 South and 8400 West, will add 8 million gallons, for a total of 17.5 million. The increased capacity will store about seven days worth of water under emergency conditions, Hansen said. The Bacchus Reservoir Site has room for two more tanks to provide for future growth. The new well, located at the Hayes Well Field in West Valley City, will deliver ,500 gallons of water per minute, compared to the 450 gallons per minute that were delivered by an older well that it replaces. 1 |
