The show will continue to run on Mondays through Saturdays through Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. Out on a Limb By OEBBI OLSON The ghouls are out and creating quite a scream at the Desert Star Theater with its current production of Frankenstein's Biide. With the subtitle of "or Girl of My Screams," the comedic troupe has excelled once again in creating a supurb melodramatic of the Frankenstein tales complete with a villian audiences love to boo and a loyable monster who only "wnts a friend." Mix into the story Desert Stars unique blend of popular music to fit the storyline and you have one of the best shows the theatre has done this season. The show features the classic villain, the insane Doctor Polvard, played by Ed Farnsworth, the hero, Victor Von Frankenstein, played by Steven Fehr, the monstor, played by Jack Drayton and the girls, each of which are played perfectly in the roles they undertake with Kerstin Anderson as the future bride, Holly Braithwaite as Elizabeth, the new bride of Frankenstein and Kathleen Richardson as Frau Braunholder, who keeps everything and everyone in Frankensteins castle in order. Frankenstein's Bride is as much fun to the actors on stage as it is for the audience as they seem intent to try to tease each other into breaking character, which happens frequently but adds to the intimate nature of all Desert Star productions. The expression of each of the cast members is as hilarious as the play itself, with Richardson and Fehr the experts throughout the show. Without questions, the more comedic character of the show is Hans, Dr. Polvard's assistant, played by Desert Stars artistic director Scott Holman. Hans, as described by the cast, is "the weakest link" and probably one of the funniest on stage at all times. Audiences will also enjoy Desert Stars famous practice of familiar popular songs. In Frankenstein's Bride the of Michael,,,. best ones include a take-of- f Jackson's "Bad" with Polvard, Hans and Braunholder singing and dancing "I'm back" as they work to bring the monster to life; a heartwarming and funny duet by the monster and Elizabeth in Billy Joel's "Just the Way You Are" and the full cast in "Chapel of Love." The show concludes with the Desert Stars popular Olio segment, this time a tribute to Halloween with the Monster Mash and featuring the full cast in Halloween costumes in a variety of skits and songs, one of the best being a tribute of the song to Turkeys in a take-of- f "Ghost Riders in the Sky." The new twist of the song is classic Desert Star fun. Frankenstein's Bride or The Girl of My Screams, will continue at the Desert Star Theater, located at 4861 S. State St. in Murray, through Nov. 0.
