DEAN LEDBETTER Cyprus starter Kyle Huntsman pitched expertly for nearly six full innings, including five shutout Staff Writer innings. Huntsman struck out seven Royals and scattered six hits. Joe Ellis relieved in the sixth inning, fanned a pair, allowed three hits but was charged with the pitching loss. Reliever Marcus Moore chalked up the pitching win for the Roy Roy clipped Cyprus 4-- 3 in an extra inning in the second round of the 2001 Utah state 4A high school baseball tournament in Roy on May 9. The team finished first in the medley and 1,600 relays. Also finishing in first place were Emily Hillam in the 100 meter and Julia Ostler in the 400 and the 800. Other individual results were: 400 relay - 3rd. 100 - Emily Hillam 3rd, 200 - Emily Hillam 3rd, Javelin - Kellie Parker - 2nd. The state track competition was 2 held on May at Brigham -- 11-1- Young University, where the Kearns girls came in 6th. The 1,600 relay team finished first, as have other Kearns teams for the last several years. This years 1,600 team consist- ed of Annette Clark, Emily H an.. Julia Ostler, Melissa Bailey. Andree Mecham, and i Dani Till. Emily Hillam took first in the 3(X) hurdles.
