DEAN LEDBETTER STAFF WRITER Utahs nearly 150,000 veterans are urged to buy veteran license plates to eventually support state veterans programs. After the Utah Sate Tax Commision recovers its actual veteran license plate production and adminstration costs, the voluntary contributions will support Utah Veteran programs. To purchase veteran license plates, an initial cost required is a $25 voluntary contribution for the Utah State Office of veterans Affairs, plus a five dollar plate transfer charge and normal registration fees. An annual renewal fee of $10, besides normal license plate registration costs, is required to keep Utah veteran plates, required fees are payable directly to the Utah State Tax Commision. At Tax CoramisionMotor Vehicle offices statewide, license plates inscribed Utah Honors Veterans can be purchased with colored service branch emblem choices of Air Force, Coast Guard, Association membership cards and military discharge certificates. Veterans license plates and special group license plates for Purple Marines, and Navy.
