Former Congressman Bill Orton will run for governor in a race that could be much closer than past races Leavitt has run because of Ortons popularity in Utah County. State Senator Scott Howell will make for a tougher race with long County Commissioners Jim Bradley and Randy Horiuch, former mayor candidate James Kennard a brother to the Sheriff, former City Commissioner Steve Harmson will time United States Senator Orrm Hatch. Howell has that young energetic way of doing things that may cause this campaign to be interest- several other candidates. The race for Salt Lake County Mayor has brought out former Salt ing Merrill Cook might face his strongest challenge with Jim Matheson son of former governor Scott Matheson. The Matheson name still carries a lot of weight in Utah. Commissioner Maik Shurtleff will face current Assistant Attorney General Reed Richards both men have strong legal credentials and are indepentently minded in how they do their jobs. The races for Salt Lake County Council will be the most interesting of all bnnging out a seasoned group all be running e. which Magna, In district 2 WestValley and Kearns are in will bring out Kearns activist Alan Anderson and Magna activist Jim Brussatto along with Lake County Commissioner Tom Shimizu to oppose Recorder Nancy Workman along with other candidates. Miller, owner of numerous automotive dealerships, professional basketball teams and Jordan Commons, will share his insight on how to become a successful entrepreneur at 7:30 a.m., April 6 in the Larry H. Freshman Stephanie Haverfield, of Salt Lake City, was elected to serve as vice president of the state student nurse alliance. She will formally be initiated at the National Student Nurse Alliance conference held April 5 at the Salt Palace Convention Center. This is a great opportunity for me to take full advantage of being in nursing school by developing leadership skills and getting involved in making our education the best, long lasting experience, Haverfield said. I feel honored tb represent our College. Haverfields position will involve taking the place of the president if needed; supporting members with their delegated duties; and assisting the president The Utah Student Nurse Alliance benefits student nurses by giving them knowledge of various ways of using their registered nursing license. It also promotes ways of improving student nursing by giving its members opportunities to make changes in the educational system in Utah. 12-1- Entreprenure Larry Miller owns the JAZZ, STARZZ, KJAZZ TV, Car Dealerships and Mega Theater Complexes as part of his portfolio. Utah Entrepreneur of the Year and has been inducted into the Utah Entrepreneurs Hall of Fame. Miller is well known not only for his ownership of 37 dealerships in seven states, but also for being the owner of the Utah Jazz, KJZZ (channel 14) and a world class amateur softball team. He also is a strong supporter of the Utah Starzz, womens professional basketball team, and the former owner of the Golden Eagles, a minor league hockey league. Reavy also said that SLCCS student nurse chapter has been active in the community as well as in the world. In recent years, the nursing group has organized health and safety fairs to the homeless as well as given flu shots to the community. In 1994, three student members traveled to Kenya to assist in organizing a health center in a small village and in 1996, again another team did the same thing in Bolivia. SLCCs nursing program is accredited by the National League of Nursing and has worked with the University of Utahs College of Nursing to establish a bachelors degree-prograpartnership.
