(No gifts please) We will be celebrating, her birthday from 4 p.m. on October 17, 1998, at the Chuckwagon Cookout, located behind Dennys Wigwam in Kanab. Anna was born to Mary Milne and Albert Fawcett on October 16, 1898, in St. George, Utah. She had two brothers, Bert and Ronald, and three sisters, Romania Rider, Ruth Hinton, and Beth Humphries. When Ann was 16 years old she moved to Kanab to work for Iva Findley, as a Nanny. She met the good looking Joseph G. Brown, who swept her off her feet. They were married on June 12, 1918. Later solemnized in the St. George Temple. They had one daughter, Joan. After they were married, they both worked at the timber camp on the Kaibab for Joes father, Ann was the camp cook, and has been a great cook ever since. In 1927, when the lodge at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon burned down, Joe and his crew had the contract to supply the Jogs to rebuild the lodge and deluxe cabins. Anna once again was the camp cook, and cooked for 30 to 40 men every day. It took them most of one winter, and because the men had their families with them, they had their own school for the children, that Anna helped teach. She remembers those times as some of the best times of her and Joes life together. - After the lodge was built, Joe ' and Ann stayed on and worked 2-- keep the telephone line open to Jacob Lake and the South Rim and to shovel snow off of the cabins so that they wouldnt cave in. When World War II broke out, Joe and Ann went to work at the Army Base in Hill Field, Joe as a carpenter and Ann in the Records Department. After the war, they moved back to Kanab and Joe had a carpenter business and Ann was content to be a housewife and help Joan raise her children. They loved to square dance and had a lot of friends both in Kanab and in the surrounding area. They always loved to have people stop by and visit, and Anna was always proud of her home and her cooking, and loved to have friends over. Joe passed away in 1986, and Anna still lives in the home that they built together. Anna has been blessed with three grandchildren, 10 greatgrandchildren, and one - great-great-grandchi- DaltonRohertson wedding Skougaard returns John F.
