Thanks Dear Mrs. Nancy Ford: On behalf of the Kanab Beautification Committee, I would like to thank you and your art classes for your work refurbishing the city Christmas nativity scene and the dumpsters for the aluminum cans. This refreshing new look will give the city many more years service and fit the theme to expand the Christmas decoration program for years to come. Sincerely, Sue Jones Kanab Beautification Committee Chairperson Fredonia Prom Dear Editor I would like to express my feelings on the Fredonia Junior Prom. First off Id like to tell the 1997 Junior class how beautiful their decorations were. You spent alot of time and money on them and it showed. The homemade mints and cakes were very good, as well as the punch. Im very proud of &U of you that worked so hard to make it that way. However, I feel like as if these 97 Juniors were robbed of a very special night The advisor put the idea into this class head that the Jumor Prom did not have to be formal or even have a promenade. Half of the class did not even show up or hardly anyone else. One (if not the biggest) of the best money makers, not to mention the memories that this class could ever have had in their four years in high school. I counted eight parents that showed up, which included myself. No staff members were thwe except the class advisor and the superintendent and his wife (who stayed a very short time). There should have never been a question at all about it being formal or a promenade. There was no introduction of the junior class. Two parents asked for the lights to be turned up (for pictures) and were apparently ignored because everyone had to take pictures in the dark of the Prom Royalty. There were no pictures of the classmates (who did show up) by the professional photographer (that the class paid money for). How many memories do you think was made as a class? Most schools still have the Prom as a mandatory part of the Junior class. This is one of the first "Adult things that high school students get to participate in as adults. When I was in high school, if one of the class members did not show up to promenade, they were fined (from the class). Most schools still do this. We were also let out ofclass to decorate. This was all part of being a junior and making memories with your class. Everyone in town came out to watch the promenade and to see the beautiful decorations which the class created. All the boys complained about having to dress up, but when it was all said and done, they all enjoyed it. I think 95 of your parents agree with this (even the men). I cant believe that the parents of the 1997 junior class wouldnt have come and at least tried to make that night as special as they could for their students. Most of all, I cant believe that the Fredonia school let this happen. Its a shame because I would say most of the class is very sorry that it happened that way. I think their advisor owes the class, as well as the town, an apology for taking this night away from them. Their supervisor is the adult in charge and it should have never happened. I would like to say to the 1998 Senior class: you may have lost a very special night, but its still not to late to make your Senior Ball the biggest and best that have ever hit Fredonia. It is suppose to be a formal dance aho. Be introduced to the town, have your class picture taken, dress formal, because you wont get many chances to after high school. Have fun and make some good memories with your class-dressin class! Have a floor show with your whole class involved (such as the promenade). You will never regret doing it I would like to say to my son Jason and his date Amanda: I am so proud of the both of you for keeping up the tradition. You both looked very, very nice. I hope your night together was a special night that you will never forget I know Amandas mom tried to make it a memorable one as well as I. I know you will always have good memories because you didnt let anyone interfere with what you expected your prom to be like. You were truly the Prom King and Queen as far as your parents were concerned. You are both commended for your effort. The same goes for all the other students who also kept the tradition and made prom night a memorable one. It was nice to see that most of you, who did go, made it nice for you and your date. I would also like to congratulate Johnny and Robin for Prom Prince and Princess. You both looked very good and deserved being Royalty. Again, I would like to say how proud I am of the Juniors who put so much work into your prom. The kids who did come to prom looked very nice and Im sure you had a good time. I did take a picture of those cf you who did go to the prom. If any of you would like a copy of it, please let Jason know, and I will give you one.
