Show News SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS WERNESDAY APRIL 2, 1997 3 Garkane Power announces refund to members Garkane Power Association, a rural electric cooperative Utah and Northern Arizona, has announced a serv-ing'Southe- m $400,000 Capital Credit Refund to be distributed to the members I of the cooperative. The refund, approved at a recent meeting of Garka nes Board of Directors, is based on the strong financial performance of the cooperative in 1996. Checks will be sent to all customers in December. Garkane Power is a cooperative. In contrast investor-owned with utilities whose profits are distributed to stockholders, excess revenues collected by Garkane are returned to the members of the cooperative those who purchase the power. This refund marks the fourth 7,000-memb- $ C ms 0 (()) OD er not-for-prof- it- consecutive year of Capital Credit rebates to Garkanes customers. The total amount distributed over the period exceeds $1.6 million. Electricity rates have remained stable during that period of time, as well. This program provides an opportunity for landowners with 640 acres or more of greenbelt status land to apply for southern region general season buck deer permits.
