Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS WEDNESDAY AUGUST 14, 1996 Opinion 4 Dixie Speaks It's common to focus on bad news, but it's not Perhaps it's time to take stock of what's going right in our local communities. overly-health- y. The Old Rock Church in Orderville is looking good. It's an important historic sight, and a note of gratitude should go to Steve Puro, the Kane County Travel Council and interested citizens, for their commitment to returning this important county historic landmark back into something of beauty and pride. The Kanab Beautification Committee is going forward with plans to find funding and build some bronze sculptures at the triangle by Parr1 s Lodge. The sculptures, representing significant historical times in Kanab's past, will be important monuments to area history. While funding mechanisms caused some local conflict, the Kaneplex rodeo grounds soon to be built south of town, should be a source of pride and (hopefully) eventual revenue for Kanab and surrounding areas. People coming here expect the Wild West and if marketed right, we believe that a good rodeo grounds will provide the arena for this venture. ? Managers Dick and Sharlotte Brewer, and the Airport Board should be congratulated for the fine work they have done at the Kanab Airport. People should go and visit the airport and see the improvements! If what I've seen is any indication, the first impression that people will see when they fly into Kanab, will be a good one. Thanks to IGA The Kane County School District, along with all school administrators, have been in some serious brainstorming sessions, trying to determine what is right and wrong with our school system. We applaud their efforts to better themselves, perhaps we should all take a lesson from their example.
