Show School SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS WEDNESDAY MAY 29, 1896 Long Valley FFA Chapter English 101 By Jill Hoyt The Long Valley FFA held their annual banquet May 2. The evening started off with an qpening ceremony, conducted by FFApresident Sarah Heaton and her officers. The dinner menu included fresh trout and quail, which the FFA had worked at raising throughout the year. Larry and Taj Heaton were in chaige of preparing the trout and quail. Another project that the FFA has been working on is Video Technology. David Biggs and Graig Demke put together a movie of all the FFA events during the year. Three people received their Greenhand awards: Jill Hoyt, Jason Bauer and Jared Brinkerhoff. Chapter Farmer Awards went to Lisa Goulding, Chris Franklin and Erin Lamb. A special award was presented to Vocational Director Dr. Paul Fawson. We were pleased to have him and his wife join us at the banquet. The FFA awarded him the Honorary FFA degree. Other awards were given to our parli amentary team for competing at state: Joeie Brinkerhoff DeDe Sorensen, Sam Roundy, David Biggs, Sarah Heaton and Susan Palmer, extemporaneous speaker Abbey Gleason; prepared public speaker (won third at state), Susan Palmer; creed speaker Kelly Walker. Awards were also given to our judging teams: Ben (Livestock) Sorensen, Kory Heaton, Blane Harris, Andy Heaton. (Soil) Lisa Goulding, Erin Lamb, Joeie and Amanda Brinkerhoff. (Range) Susan Palmer, DeDe Sorensen, Sarah and Caroline Heaton. (Floral culture): lisa Goulding, Sarah Heaton and Erin Lamb. The Long Valley FFA members wish to express their appreciation to Mr. Sorensen and their parents for all their help, support and encouragement. Erin Smith earns law degree Erin L. Smith of South Royalton, Vermont, has graduated from Vermont Law School with a juris doctor degree and a master of studies in environmental law degree. Commencement exercises were held in South Royalton on May 18. Smith received a bachelor of arts degree in English from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. She is the daughter ofRonald Smith of Kanab, Utah, and Sheila Morand, of Gilbert, Arizona. There were 13 families participating. The parents had great fun getting to know each other and more than 20 children, ages 1 to 15 enjoyed associating and playing together. Our next activity is scheduled for June 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Alton City Park. Please bring your family and a picnic lunch. Again, all those who are currently home schooling, or who are interested in home schooling, are invited and welcome to join us.
