Show School SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS WEDNESDAY MAY 1, 1996 15 Holds Annual FHA Fashion Show VMS By Stacey Heaton The annual FHA fashion show and officer installation was held at Valley High School on April 17. This event is a spring tradition for the Long Valley Chapter. It is a time of elegance and acknowledgment of achievement. The event took place beneath the beautiful prom decorations and continued the theme "Window to Heaven. Beautiful girlsmodeled elegant dresses before a capacity crowd. Many of the junior girls modeled their prom dresses; some very young girls also modeled their holiday attire. Each model was escorted from the stage by the by Maryliss Heybome. FHA members were recognized for their achievements at Region and State competitions. The outgoing officers were honored and also presented the tra- ditional candle lighting cer- emony. Newly elected FHA Officers for the 1996 - 97 year were announced; these new officers took the FHA oath and were officially installed in the Long Valley Chapter. The new officers include Julie Skougaard, Melissa Spencer, Stacey Heaton, Shaunna Frost, Angie Hoyt, Tif- fany Anderson, Emily Heaton, Jessica Reese, and Richelle handsome Spencer Stockard. Robbins. Good job kidsl rts by reading the required amount cf VHS attends State FHA Convention By Stacey Heaton The Long Valley Chapter of Future Homemakers of America attended the Utah State FHA Convention in Salt Lake City on March 29 -- 30. Accompanied by their advisor, Mrs. Lee Stockard, chapter members participated in several events including Parliamentary Procedure and Chapter Showcase. Two members also competed for state and national offices. The Parliamentary Procedure Team included Ellen Johnson (Chairperson), Deborah Johnson, Machelle Bauer, Kelly Walker, Adam Richins, Shaunna Frost, Jessica Reese and Michelle Spencer. The team practiced hard and competed well; the Chapter is proud of their efforts. They designed and developed a unique showcase book which illustrated all the years activities. Colette and Stacey also presented the chapter showcase to a panel of judges. They received a gold medal, and they will represent Utah at the National FHA Convention in St. Louis this summer. Melissa Spencer ran for the state office of Peer Educator. She presented a prepared speech before a panel of judges. She was selected and will serve as a peer educator and trainer to the other FHA chapters throughout Utah.
