Grandma, you are shrinking, but youre in pretty good shape. I am getting shorter, she agreed. My mom who has spent her adult years at an approxi- mate 55" height, is with age, now getting less altitude at about 53". So lets just figure the shrivel rate, times the number of years until 2000, he responded analytically. The good news is that the way Ive got it figured, youll be very much alive and a ware, the bad news is that youll only be two foot tall. ' ,' Age has a way of jippingyou. t The very least compensation a person should get for aging is that their bodies get better. But what really happens? Gravity takes over. The passing of time makes bodies prove the old adage, what goes up, must come down. Age makes everything fall, erode or shrink. That nice strong chin you had in your youth, slips right down and becomes a double drip catcher as you get older. That beautiful, head-fu- ll of hair you had in your prime, is receding quicker than the tides. In order to flex a muscle now, you first have to find it, and then lift it manually. Wouldnt it be nice ifyour body could be like a fine cheese or wine, and actually improve with age? This age thing is a sensitive subject lately, because to be per fectly frank, the years are creeping up on me. When my sisters were my age, I used to think to myself, I wonder if they realize how old they are? Now its me. The saying, youre only as young as you feel is a bit foolish, if you ask me. My mind actually feels that I can go horse riding or roller skating with our sons all afternoon, but my body doesnt take well to the implications-on- e fall and Im down for the count. My mind thinks that Im perfectly capable of doing a number of things, its just getting my body to go along with that as- granddaughter of Bob and Barbara Schafer of Kanab. My Stand on Drugs: People who do drugs say they arent hurting anyone. They say its their life and no one should tell them how to live their life. Drugs cause harm to the body and violence in the world. People who buy drugs are just giving the drug dealers more money and more reason to sell drugs and hurt more people. If nobody bought drugs they would be out of business! Wouldnt the world be a better place? Sticking a needle in your arm sounds sick! Going crazy because of drugs is not appealing to me. sessment. My Stand on Alcohol: So many N ature isnt the only thing that young kids, even adults, are does a number on you when you d get older. We live in a society. Media is guilty Sale-Caof promotingyouth over the more mature. Most of the TV shows Wash-Yar- d have stars that could not even tell you the names of My Three Sons. You can only surmise by these subliminal messages that older people dont drink beer, cuddle or smell very good. Older people get the opportunity to strut their stuffin Geritol or fiber cereal ads. So what does this all mean, youre probably asking yourself. I guess we have no choice but to grow old gracefully. killed because of driving drunk. So many kids are raised in an alcoholic family. People who get drunk forget what they are doing and do stupid things or hurt people. They get addicted and use all their money for alcohol. Alcoholic families sometimes go hungry. Children are beaten because of drinking parents! How can people do this to people they love? My Stand on Smoking: Many members in my family have died or come close to dying because they smoked. I think tobacco companies are drug dealers. I read that 50,000 nonsmokers will die because of second hand smoke! Smoking pollutes our environment and our bodies. Smoking stinks!! Taking a stand against all drugs is important to me. I want to go on leading my life successfully! I want to be healthy and strong. People who do drugs know its wrong in the depths of their hearts! I long for a better world! I will take a stand against Shouldnt everybody? drugs!!! youth-oriente- Bake r Sale Y p.
