Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS MONDAY Community MARCH 11, 1991 12 BLM, Colorado City exchange The Bureau of Land Management Arizona Strip District exchanged 40 acres of public land within the city limits of Colorado City for 320 acres of land in the Cottonwood Wilderness Area. Everybody is a winner, said Rob Roudabush, BLM Vermillion Area Manager. The city was able to obtain needed land for community expansion and recreational development. The public was able to obtain valuable recreation land inside the Cottonwood Wilderness. Completing the exchange was not a simple process; an important cultural site was discovered on the public lands to be disposed of. It was determined that the site had significant cultural and public values, so the proposal was modified. The cultural site has remained in public ownership, with plans to develop it well under way. Currently, BLM has a partnership worked out with Intersearch, a private m, to excavate the site. Future plans include a joint venture with Colorado City to develop an interpretative site for public enjoyment.
