Show r SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS - Thursday, May 3, 1SS4 - Page Eleven Kaibab Promotions Drivers Honored For Safety Record The fourth annual safety awards banquet was given by Kaibab transportation, Inc., a subsidiary of Kaibab Industries on April 14. 1984 at the Territorial Inn, Kanab, Utah. The Safety Awards program was initiated in 1980 and an accident review board was established to determine preventable or accidents. This board has, as members, two driver representatives, two management representatives, and one impartial insurance representative. Kaibab drivers have driven 3,425,803 miles in fiscal 1983. Kaibab Transportation, Inc., is very proud to have this opportunity to recognize these drivers for their excellent driving performance and displaying professionalism and judgment under all driving conditions. Thirty drivers, representing 179 years and over 19 million miles of sale driving received the following: FIRST YEAR - Fen ScPcncil set with Kaibab I.D. and r safe driving: Craig Blanchard. Boyd Koundy, Tom Williams. THIRD YEAR - Plaque with Drivers pieture and name and three years safe driving: Jim Cooper, Russell Bridges. FOURTH YEAR - Leather billfold with Kaibab I.D. and four years safe driving: Davis Roundy. FIFTH YEAR SECOND YEAR - Leather Log Book Cover with Kaibab I.D., Driver's name and 2 years safe driving: Norm Criichlow, Komell Hcpworth, Toni Williams. Sterling Silver Belt safe driving: John Crofts, Grant Tebbs. SIXTH YEAR - First Sapphire Added to the above buckle: Kyle Barton, Bob Houston, Devon Owens. DAVE STEWART Dave Stewart, former Icadnian at Division has been promoted to Mine limbers Foreman at the Frcdonia Sawmill. He w ill coordinated the production of mine timbers cut to size according to customers' specifications. Dave enjoys working with wood, which may contribute to the fact that the mine timbers crew has broken the last month's shipping record four consecutive months in a row. Born and raised in El Salvador, Central America. Dave speaks llucnt Spanish. For the last 8 years he and his wife. Kathy, have lived in the Southern Utah area. They presently reside in Kanab and are the parents of 13 month old daughter. Allison. Along with gardening and camping, stamp collecting is a favorite hobby of Dave's. Kaibab wishes to congratulate and wish Dave well in his new position. John's primary- -, responsibilities are to oversee the sealing, log transfers, log infeed, and maintenance of equipment in the logyard. In 1972 John began working at Kaibab as a blade operator, and was then promoted to leadman over the gravel crew . in electrical, welding, and mechanics, along with in road 12 years experience construction, should contribute to his success in his new position. "I find the work challenging and I like to keep busy," he remarks. Prior to his employment at Kaibab. John attended college at C'SU in Cedar City and spent 2 years in the U.5. Army, stationed in Hawaii and Thailand. A native of So. Utah, he and his wife. Verla. live in Ordcrville with their two children Tia 14 and Wes 9. In his spare time John raises horses, hunts, lishes and goes camping in his travel trailer with his family. He will oversee the operations at the dry kiln and air dry yard, under the supervision of Ted Alhcrley. Gib started his eareer at Kaibab in the dry kiln division and has worked as leadman tor the last 4 years. He keeps up on the latest drying and seasoning techniques by attending seminars regularly. When asked what he likes most about his work, Gib replies The people I work with. I find people both interesting and amusing. Born and raised in Cedar City, Gib and his wife. Shannon, along with children, Travis, II, and Shawnee 8, reside in Kanab. Shannon enjoys decorating wedding cakes, and is the PTA regional director. W hen Gib finds time away from his duties at Kaibab, he enjoys hunting, fishing and camping with his family. |
