Crosby As Pm sitting here looking out the window wondering what the weather is going to bring. 1 cant help but feel sad about all the damage the frost has done in out area. I feel bad to think of all the water they are getting in the northern part of the state and how very little we have had down here in our beautiful Color Country. Also there is something else that makes me feel bad. All my life I've been around robins. Have you watched them in the spring and again in the fall. Watched them stop and listen for worms then dash to the spot and catch them so fast. But do you know what? I've never had a chance to watch a robin build her nest until this very spring after the new leaves got out on our big ash tree here at the south of the house. First, there was only one robin. I saw the first mouthful of feathers and grass. She worked for days until it was almost finished before the mate panic to help with the work. Can you believe what happened about the time we thought there might be eggs and even little birds? If you guessed the cold came you were right. So cold it froze all the lush green leaves that were hiding the nest. No there arc no robins, just the empty nest. Now the sparrows are stealing the nice soft lining of the nest and carrying it to the other tree for their nest. Thats why I'm sad. I'd been counting the robins before the eggs were even laid. Hopefully next year some more robins will find the nest and have better luck with the weather. I've always thought robins were one of our most important birds. How about you?Anyway Id better get on with the update. llierc will be cheese this month and should be every other month regularly front now on. April 25th by Susan Hittson Teaching aides were submitted and letters read to the board to substantiate need for the restoration of hours cut last year. Sixteen teachers responded to a questionaire indicating the immediate need for the restoration. Members regrettably accepted Mrs. Betty Kleinmark's resignation., sawrSvtleinmark is the highly respected first grade teacher and has been with the district for 17 years. She said in her letter that the remuneration in teaching was not adequate to secure her future, therefore, was resigning to begin a new career. Careful consideration was given to each remaining item before the other necessary cuts were made. Computers will be added to Mr. Winward's computer science class. Other computers will be bought from another fund for elementary school use. Earlier this year the public was told that 40,000 would be transferred from capital outlay to maintenance and operations to sustain the operation of the school.
