It will be held on the football field at the high school. The Kanab Boxing Gub has many fine boxers and will host the fights. There will be boxers from Cedar, st. George and Las Vegas. Staring the show off will be Fredonias Orlando Benn fighting Dixies Jeff Ence. This will be a grudge match from last years Peach Days tourney, where Ence won a split decision. Benn, who just won the 1982 Utah State Golden Gloves hopes to change that around this time. Troy Goodfellow, a Kanab fighter with a 2 and 1 record, will fight Dixies Ramond Shorty, who has a 3 and 1 record. Dennis Riding will be fighting a Nevada fighter since he has cleaned out all the competition in the state. He has won the Utah State Golden Gloves title the last two years and took fourth in the Nation Junior Olympics. Both Dennis and Orlando will represent Utah in the ten state regionals at Las Vegas in June. In the middleweight division, Kanabs Kelepi Finau will fight Cedars Mike Over-soKelepi, who won a unanimous decision over a Dixie fighter two weeks ago, was voted the tournaments best fighter. Anyone who liked watching Kelepi play basketball will enjoy watching his blinding hand speed in boxing. Jimmy Torgerson will be fighting Rusty Beaty from Cedar City. They suggest that we could use the check to buy equipment and we assure them that it will be put to good use. Interest Temple Day Senior Citizen Update Several years ago when I was a little girl there was a big celebration being given. The reason was for the laying of the cornerstone for the new Kane County Court House. This was back in the days when, if you had a contagious disease, the Quarantine Officer stopped by and put a red flag on your gate. This meant stay home and everyone that went by would make a circle around your place. Well, word got around about the big celebration with free ice cream and maybe even bananas. I really wanted to go but, guess what, I had the mumps! (This was back in the days when it was thought that putting a string around your neck would keep the mumps from going down.) Anyway, I didnt get to go. But as I think back over the years of the beautiful Court House comer, of the lawn and trees and the eventual rock fence, the beautiful entrance, the resting places on each side of the steps, I relieve what a blessing it has been to so many. The thousands of travelers who have spread their lunches on the rock fence while the children played on the cool grass-t- o say nothing about all the use it has been. I cant help but think how indispensible it is. Then I think of all the people in my life who have seemed indispensible and how after they have gone things seem to fail into place and life goes on. These thoughts came to me as we were going through the new court house after the dedication on Saturday, May 9th. By the time we got there most everyone had gone. They were having court in one of the courtrooms so Drew Robinson got the key to let us see the jail section. Right now, it looks pretty sufficient. Really a beautiful building. Couldnt help but see how the once beautiful courthouse we loved so much looked like a sore thumb as it hides the main entrance to the new building. I thought, too, Now lets not feel too bad about it because in another sixty years or so this now new building will become insufficient for some reason or another and for those who are still around will know even old buildings have to give up the ghost sometime. Oooops, just about forgot the update. Things are really going on up at the new Senior Citizens Center and that is as it should be. Just think of all those who have made it possible for it to be. Next Friday, May 21, there will be a group of Senior Citizens from Page (fifteen to be exact) who will be here for lunch. They have been anxious to see our new center. We are happy they will be coming as we are always proud to have people come so we can show it off. We think it is a good tourist attraction. Also, dont forget Monday June 7, the Kane County Advisory Committee will meet at the Kanab Center at 1 p.m. Lunch will be served for those who have made arrangements at noon. Duff tells me they are shopping for equipment to put in the new finished part. Wonder what they will come up with. Would like to mention Mauice Sheppard and Vince Underwood who have both had medical attention but are both home and doing well. We wish them both much smooth sailing. The Special Interest group of the Kanab Stake has planned a temple day at St. George on Friday, May 21. They will leave the Stake Center at 1:30 p.m., the fare will be $3.00. The plan is to attend two sessions. If you wish to go or want more information, call U.S. Gardner, 5548, or Loma Shumway, 2950. Hi to Marie and Thearon Crosby in Alton. Just want to say They should be near so they could enjoy the things that goes on at the Centers. See you all next week. Dont expect to enjoy the cream of life if you keep your milk of human kindness all bottled up. Extended Coverage What does your automobile insurance cover?
