One day is so cold it freezes our truck so hard in the mud we have to get a drive to pull it out, and then the next day my kids are trotting around without coats. Popcorns popping on the apricot tree in St. George and 1 for one look forward to true spring. For the second time, five of our young mothers went down to Glendale Relief Society to participate in some special lessons on teaching young children. The same evening the scouts (plus a few tagalongs) went to Panguitch to polish their swimming skills and pass off what merit badges and skill awards they could. At least one young scout came home very tired from the effort. Delila Heaton spent several days in St. George with her family. Besides doing four sessions in the temple, she babysat one night for her daughter. Carolee, while she and her husband attended a band concert. The highlight of Delila's visit was a yummy potluck dinner to celebrate the March birthdays of her brother, sister and herself. Were really happy to have a new Altonite. Dot and Ferril Heaton are adopting a new son. Welcome John! We hope you enjoy your new home. Tiana and Tylon are thrilled to have a new big brother and carry his picture around to four-whe- Christopher Fair, noted magician, will perform in Kanab on March 25 beginning at p.m. in the Kanab Elementary School. The program is being sponsored by the Kane County Arts Council. The public is invited. 7 PTA and PTSA Larriettes Sponsor Revue 18 th Program Set Mar, 17 Kanab Elementary PTA and Magic Comes To Kanab The Magic of Christopher Fair is coming to Kanab on Mar. 25. The popular young magician will be appearing at the Elementary School at 7 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door - $1 for children and $2 for adults. The program is sponsored by the Kanab Arts PTSA. will sponsor a workshop Modification. on Behavioral Doug Bates a member of the Utah School Board, will be addressing the parents. A hairy caterpillar crawled in one night and permanently attached itself to Ferril's upper lip. Last Friday Norman and The larriettes of Kanab High School have another great event planned. Those of you who attended our Fashion A Show know that you cant afford to miss any presentation promoted by the Larri-ette- Nancy Roundy filled every crook and cranny of their car with MIA kids and took them down to St. George to do baptisms for the dead. While the youth were busy, Norman and Nancy attended a temple On March 17 at 7 p.m. we will be reviewing the drill 1981-8year. The Larriette Review is an annual event, this one plans on being the best one ever. The theme "Poems, Prayers & Promises" indicates a reliving of fond memories 4nd hard work.-Thevening of the Review promises great entertainment. In addition to the Larriettes performing favorite routines of the past and present, the alumni Larriettes, Varsity & Junior Varsity cheerleaders, Rhea McCormick's young dancers and other great dance groups will entertain you. We certainly wish our Valley team luck this week at state e playoffs. Sunday was a happy time for the Duke Heatons: their first child, Garit D Heaton, was blessed. Dukes family came up from Moccasin, which included his parents Leonard and Yvonne and four youngest sisters, his other two sisters were at college. Mack and Pam Roundy had their sixth boy. That makes 51 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren for Lorena. w ho had 12 children herself, 6 boys and 6 girls. Vickie Heaton is busily getting ready for her wedding on June 4th. She's found just the right wedding dress and the stars in her eyes are brilliant. I remember how Kanab City employees Dan Merrel, Keith Robinson and Orson Swapp smooth concrete on new sidewalk south of town. New Sidewalk in Kanab A city crew was busy last with another 1300 still to go. The sidewalk will make week setting forms and pouring concrete for a side- walking along the highway walk extending along the west much safer for the many side of Highway 89A from people who walk to activities Fourth South to the new at the church and for all the church. The recall election that was sought by some Fredonia electors will be held next Tuesday, but only names of the current Town Councilmen will be on the ballot. After the election was made legal, those asking for it The Mountain Will Visit The Tropics Lib- rary Association is sponsoring a special exhibit at the Kanab Library during the week of March The exhibit will feature historical pioneer and country schools in Utah and seven other western states. Along with the exhibit, there will be a special program on March 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Kanab Library. Mr. Scott Birkinshaw of the Weber State College Library will present the program, which will consist of a film about rural education in the Mountain Plans States, presentations on the role of education in the state of Utah and a discussion with the audience. The program and exhibit are free and everyone in Kane County and Fredonia area is welcome to come. Kanab Libraiy is located at 6 South 100 East in Kanab and is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The exhibit will be on display during these hours for your viewing pleasure. We especially invite teachers to bring their classes to see this 15-1- exhibit. Officers Meet Mrs. Opal Ellis, President of District 7 of the American Legion Auxiliary, her first Zona Wright, and District Girls State Chairman Wenn Wright came from Hurricane Monday, Mar. 8, to meeet with Unit 69 on Constitution and Luncheon was served to the group at the Country Kitchen at 12 Noon. Following the updating of the Constitution and the District Officers traveled on to Orderville where they judged the Girls State candidates from the Valley Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary. Linda had a dickens of a time getting here, though. Just short of the Alton turnoff, her car ran out of gas. Someone finally came along and w ent on to Glendale to call her folks. She and Sonn got cold waiting and decided to start walking and it really got chilly then. A Kanab fellow came along and picked them up and met Linda's folks part way into town. Happy Birthday to Gerta Palmer's son, Robert, who is now back in New Jersey living with his father. Robert turned 19 on March 9. Emily Heaton will be a terrible on the 11th. Duke Heaton will celebrate his birthday on the 13th and his wife Angela will follow quickly with hers on the 16th. Best wishes to all! The girls of the ward had a yummy taffy pull at advisor Floss Heatons home Friday night. It was Flosss birthday that day and Jennifer Palmer made frosting for the cake that tasted truly professional. Ill have to get Joy to share the recipe. On Saturday Nancy Roundy took the younger girls to a good Stake Beehive meeting in Kanab. On the 20th Vic and his new bride, Valoy, had an open house in the home of his parents. Vane and Joann Campbell. Janet and her husband, Leo and his family, and Joanns mother, Amy all in attendacne Reece, for it as well as Valoys parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mangum from Salt Lake City. Benjoy Bladh got third place in the Southern Utah Science Fair. We wish Claren Heaton well, hes hurt his back again. While milking his cow, it gave a wicked kick and knocked him hard onto his tailbone. If any of you out there have injured your tailbone, youll be feeling very sympathetic I believe. Some of our travelers were Dee and Martha Roundy who went to Las Vegas to visit their daughgter, Glenna, and family. Delila Heaton went to St. George to attend the farewell of her brother, Lorenzo, and wife who are going on a mission to Pennsylvania. Duke and Angel Heaton went to Provo to visit with Angies sister and family. Karl and Joy Heaton went up to Salt Lake City with Karls brother, Ron and Sandy from Orderville, to a bankers convention. Joy said they were served a buffet dinner that had the best food shes ever had and that they also went to a meeting where Representative Jim Hansen gave an excellent talk. Three cheers for Fsther Heaton, she took care of the twelve grandchildren from Friday afternoon through Saturday night while Karl, Joy, Ron and Sandy were gone. (Nine of these kids were boys!)
