The "Eagle Alert" states that "Modern People News reveals plans for filming the sex life of Jesus based on a controversial book that depicts Christ as a swinging homosexual. This film, according to the notice, will be shot in the United States this year unless the public outcry is great. The object of the paper 1 received is to help produce this public outcry. It says that the News gives the name of the writer, director and producer with no stars named yet, but a French prostitute has been assigned the part of Mary Magdelene, with who Christ has a blatant affair in the movie. The alert then asks, "How can we stand by and do NOTHING to fight such EVIL? Crucifixion was no worse than this. Jesus the only name whereby men can be saved, is being dragged through the dirt. Please help get this film BANNED from the United States. Use your influence by writing your protest today." Funeral Held I i S FIGURES Homes ' Dear Editor: Just a word of thanks and appreciation to all for making the second annual Southwest Power Federation Utah banquet and meeting a memoWe had rable success! planned on about 30 community leaders and their wives but had to set up additional seating for about 70 people was excellent food The and infor interesting speakers mative and the entertain ment....well, everyone ap peared most rewarded for coming and a new board was elected. The next step in condemnation should be most interesting to you. The Federation-wi- th your now newly elected board-- is ina detailed commissioning ventory of the electric system within your community. This study will count poles, transformers, etc. and then evaluate the percentage portion of the total system that serves your community. These inventory figures will also be used to help determine the system value within your community. With this information a similar analysis is then made to buying an apartment building.... "Will the income to the city (owner) from the sale of power to the customers (rent) offset the cost of the electric system (building) after expenses. Remember, you small communities are not alone. The purpose of the Power Federation and Power Agency is to help pool the resources of you smaller communities together that such a plan is cost justifiable based on the economies of scale. The power experts are working with usvou and guiding every step to make sure nothing is left to chance. This is nothing new. It's working in St. George, Hurricane, Parowan, Enterprise and some 28 other cities in the state. And you have the finest power minds in the Power Federation and Agency totally dedicated to seeing this work for your community. Only you city leaders know how hard it is to raise revenue through taxes to provide city services for your community. Imagine a city owned electric system now actually bringing in money to help relieve taxes and offset some of your expenses. Pride in ownership with your own electric system! Two things to keep in mind.... 1) Milford and Minersville both served by UP&L were at our annual meeting and are looking at joining the Federation. Beaver did join and was admitted last Saturday. 2) What does the desperate bid by UP&L to get your electric system tell you of the value of the system? Consider UP&L is willing to ignore the vote of the people to get your system. CPN ignored the vote, now UP&L is ignoring it. Is that free enterprise? UP&L is trying desperately to convince mayors and councils to discontinue the condemnation suit. They are dedicated to this end because they want your electric system with its ability to generate income for their shareholders and not for you. We appreciate your growing support. Were counting on you to hold firm and support us in securing the CPN system through condemnation. Its the only way. Respectfully yours, Carl L. Palmer The Unmailed Letter Dear Teacher, Today at Commencement we had a peach of an address, The Education I Wish I It made Might Have Had. me think. And I'm going to break loose and tell you about memories some fellows have which I havent had. wish I could remember one morning that you greeted me 1 with a happy smile when I walked into the room. It would have made such a bright beginning for the day. I know that I wasnt much to look at face with my crowned with a mop of red hair that just wouldnt stay down no matter how often I combed it. And my ears-th- ats why they were always so dirty-th- ey were so big, and they stuck straight out catching every particle of dirt that the wind swept by. My clothes w ere dirty too, but that wasnt altogether my fault. Mother never did feel well after baby Sally was born, and 1 would brown-freckle- d always dirty my clothes faster than she could get around to wash them. I can hear Mother voice, say in her tired "Johnny, how do you ever get so dirty?" She promised me she would wash my trousers after I had gone to bed (I had only one pair), but I guess she was just too tired after putting Sally to bed and tucking in Billy and Bob, the twins, and Mary Jane, Tommy and me for the night before leaving to hunt for Dad who would be in one of the six taverns. You cant imagine how much your smile would have meant on some of these mornings that I came to school with only a dry crust of bread for my breakfast. Once or twice I thought you were going to smile and then, you just said in a stern voice, "John, youre late-- as usual. as usual' That as an afterthought always cut like a knife, and thats why I was afraid you wouldn't understand if I told you the real treason why I was late. Baby Sally needed the milk, and I used to walk the three miles to Smiths every morning to get it.. He sold us milk two cents cheaper then Mr. Jones who lived just across the lane from us. I wish I could remember one kind word that you spoke to me directly, or one time we played games that you joined the circle next to me and took my hand like you did the other boys. True, my hands always looked dirty-i- ts hard to wash in cold well water with no if I'd known there soap-b- ut was a chance that you would take hold of my hand. I'd have scrubbed and scrubbed until they had been clean. The only time you seemed to notice me was when I pulled Normas hair or poked Bonnie with my pencil. No one wanted to play with me and sometimes I just felt like I had to do something like that to make sure I was still there. I wish I could remember one time that you included me in the planning of the class work, instead of simply ignoring me. I rebelled at that-n- ot at the work itself, as you supposed when I caused a distrubance or did everything except the work I was supposed to do-b- ut because you didn't consider my views or reasons. I wish I could remember, above all else, just one time that you and I talked together alone discussing my problems so that you could have had a better understanding oi why I had to do some of the things I did. It was always so easy for you to solve any problem that came up in class and Im sure that you could have helped me with my own problems and Friday, May 23 will b temple date for the Sp troubles.
