Tennis members and followers were excited to learn that Walt Prisbrey has been offered a tennis scholarship by Weber State. Walt, probably the finest player to ever tennis emerge from the ranks, has won numerous titles and will be an excellent addition to the Wildcat team. Weber State has one of the areas finest tennis programs and are the reigning Big Sky Conference champions. The track team did really well in the meet at Page on Saturday, 19th, with the boys placing 2nd, and' at the Parowan meet Thursday, April 24, both the boys and girls placed with first and second. On 1, May Thursday, Region track will be held at Cedar and Kanab will also participate at the BYU Invitational Saturday, May 3rd. The tennis team traveled to Dixie Monday, 28th, for a practice meet and all the boys came home with a victory. Region tennis will be held this Saturday, May 3, at Richfield and all the members are expected to do well. All those who participated in State Drama last Friday and Saturday at BYU did very good. LaRae Swallow and Doug Jacobs took superiors in their dramatic readings and Cindy Robertson took a superior in her pantomime. All those who took Excellents are: Rinda Reese, dramatic reading; JoAnn Garkson and Greg Broadhead, scene from a play; Leslie Goodfellow, pantomime, and Sabrina Board-ma- n got a good in her humorous reading. Francine McAllister, Sabrina Boardman and Tonda Hoar traveled to BYU for the State F.H.A. convention last Monday and Tuesday. The Spanish students and advisers enjoyed 9 days in Mexico last week. The trip was set up by Mr. Drake and was a great experience. The group spent 3 days in Guadalajara and 4 days in, Puerto Vallarta, with a in Los Angeles. Raymond Riddle: 2nd 440 Relay Kanab Student Little Damage On U of U Honor Roll The Kanab Volunteer Fire Department was called to a home fire last week, where minimal damage occured, but could have been serious, according to a Department spokesman. The fire was at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dale spencer. The fire apparently started in the childrens bedroom when bedding caught fire. The department was called about 10:30 on Wednesday, April 23. Smoke was pouring from the upstairs window of the Spencer home, but only the bedding and mattress were burned. Some smoke damage also resulted. The department has received only two calls so far this year. Both were home fires. A University of Utah student from Kanab is among 3,950 undergraduates named to the Winter Quarter honor roll at the University of Utah. Brett Waterman, son of Dean Waterman of Kanab and Jean Waterman of Salt Lake City was named to the honor roll. He is enrolled in the College of Mines and Mineral Industries, and is a junior this year. To be named to the honor roll a student must maintain an average of 3.5 or better in all academic subjects where 4.0 is the equivalent of an A.
