Show Page Three March 2, 1972 SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS, Kanab, Utan Glendale news and events Mrs. Mardean Dahl and son from Logan have been here seeing her parents the Cleon Jack-son- s and other relatives and friends the past week. She returned to her home in Logan Sunday. A number of released were made at Sacrament meeting Sunday: Mrs. Lou Nell Chamberlain was released as president of the Glendale Ward MIA, along with her first counselor, Mrs. Geneva Workman and secretary Mrs. Sylvia Chamberlain; Miss Mary Ann Anderson was released from being organist and Jacklyn Campbell as chorisetr. In their places were sustained; Mrs. Donna Spencer as president with Marion Maxwell as first counselor, Ila Mae Campbell as secretary, and Pauline Robinson as chorister. Lou Nell Chamberlain was also released from being chorister of the Sunday School and Jerry Spencer was sustained in this position. Lou Nell Chamberlain was released as a teacher in the Primary and Louisa A. Brinkerhoff was sustained in this position. The program at sacrament meeting included: talks by Helen Maxwell (who was home over the weekend from her studies at Dixie College); James L. Maxwell, Mable Beattie, S. Glen Beattie and LDean Anderson, with a piano Kane solo being rendered by Miss Carmel Keyope. A scouting banquet for all ward members is being held Friday here at the Ward Cultural Hall. The Glendale Ward MIA is presenting a one-aplay entitled Too Many Beaus, Tuesday evening with a matinee being held for the children under MIA age in the afternoon. ct MrS. Zelda Robertson and family from Union were here the past week at the Horace Maxwell home. Joe and Lurleen Martins with their two children and three grandchildren all from Pohenix, and Art and Betty Carver and four children from St. George, visited at the Delmar Spencer home the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mellor (Ora May) and children from Nephi, were here seeing relatives and friends over the past weekend, and for the wedding and reception of her brother Sherman Cox and Lollie Frost. Mr. and Mrs. Ike Chamberlain and children, Alyn, Allyson, RMon and Alton Joseph, moved to Blanding the past weekend, where they plan to make their home They were assisted in the moving details by their parents, the Corand Alton nell Chamberlains Pughs. LICENSES TO BE ISSUED BOWLING Mr., Dick Mansey of the State and Thomas Haycock, Kane County Tax Assessor, will be in Glen Canyon City on March 2 at the City Cafe to collect personal property taxes and issue Utah license plates. The two will be in the Dining Room of the City Cafe from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and your previous years registration slip is all that is necessary to purchase your plates. No word has been received as yet from the Tax Commission in Salt Lake City about the border zone agreement dispute although Arizona has stated that anyone working in the state must have Arizona license plates. This situation is of great concern to the citizens of Glen Canyon City since most of them are working at the Navajo Power Project or in Page, Ariz. Tax Commission e KIDS BUILDING PLAYGROUND With the coming of spring and warm weather, the kids of Glen Canyon City have begun the contraction of a playground on a vacant lot, starting with a basketball court. Using a concrete slab, which was the floor of a garage, Eddie Murphy, Tom McBride Joe Davis, Rob, John and Bugs McIntyre obtained posts, hoops and s and made a fine court for the kids. Dor-en- e Mauldin had a bit of bad luck though. She hit her angle with a ball and was still incapacitated on Monday night. The Glen Canyon City Trailer Rats lost a member of their team, Colleen Hill, who was replaced by MaryO Trammel. As of Monday night, they held a firm third place in the League.
