Show A SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS, Kanab, Utah Page, Four Weekly Hews Release Hospital Notes Mrs. Harold (Neva)- freni Fredonia underwent gery October 5th. Your County Agent By Wayne Rose Every year at this time cattlemen lose some of their cattle from pulmonary emphysema. Local cattlemen refer to this condition as the grunts. This condition comes upon cattle when they are brought from relatively poor range feed and put into irrigated pastures. In many instances the condition terminates with pneumonia and death. LaDrue and Earl Sorensen have .informed me that they have been able to prevent krunts from developing by alternating their cattle between brush and good pasture. I believe that this practice is one that would solve the problem for many of our cattlemen. Another practice which would be of value would be to feed alfalfa hay for several daylHo cattle before bringing them off the range and putting them in our fields. This makes a more gradual transition in the type of feed and will go a long way toward preventing more deaths from grunts. Have all of you tasted at least one of these delicious Kane County apples?
