Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS, Kanab, Utah Page Four PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, on September 17, 17S7, the delegates to the Federal Convention in Philadelphia met for the last time and approved the following words, now enshrined not only in our Nations basic instrument of Government, but also in the hearts of our citizenry: We, the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this CONSTITUTION for the United States of America. WHEREAS, the great majority of .the delegates, led bv the President of the Convention, George Washington, drafted Constitution, and on the followsigned their Secretary set off for New York by stage ing day coach to deliver the engrossed document to the United States in Congress there assembled. Within a week the proposed Constitution had been printed and circulated both in Pennsylvania and New York, and the great principles by which our country is governed, had been dispatched or carried home by delegates from other states as well. On September 28, 1787, the Congress resolved to transmit the draft text officially to the states of the Confederation for action, WHEREAS, it is fitting that we, whose entire lives base been protected by the fruits of the Conventions deliberations, should pause to study the course of events by which our Constitution came into being, NOW THEREFORE, I, Harman C. Let us of 1787 give thanks for the wisdom of those statesmen who labored to decide the fate of our government and of their successors throughout the countrys history who contributed to making our Constitution a lixing thing, a great taproot to feed and support the growth of our republic. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I hereunto set my hand and cause the official seal of Kanab City to be affixed this 2b dav of August,. 1959. HARMAN C. STEED, MAYOR the--newl- . She turns her home over to the public and gives freely of her time and talent to the public. She is active in the P.T.A. and President of the Primary, where she is loved by all the children. This proves her good character. She is not only a good neighbor to those close around, but to all in the town, for example: On my sons birthday I had to be gone ail morning and just as I got home here she came with a big pot of stew and a birthday cake. I live seven blocks away. At most every funeral you will hear her sweet vioce singing with a trio and in the choir. She is the type of person who believes that her time isn't worth much unless she can give it to her friends and neighbors. ThC aood neighbor is NABB1E M. GLAZIER from Kanab. She has given so many of her hours to helping some one or some organization. Now she is Captain of the Daughter of Pi oneers, and she is working to get a History of Kane County Written and published. She is group chairman of the blue cross for this county, that takes a lot of her time. She opens her home to teachers or any one that can't find a place to live, or stay for a few nights. She has made many friends sharing her beautiful flowers, and her garden vegetables as well as new baked bread or cake. She has been chairman of many of our best programs and we all know how many long hours it takes to put on a successful program. A few years ago a family lost their boy and she went to their home and got their couch, took it to her home and upholstered it for them and had it back to them before the funeral services. She has made friends all over the U.S.A., but to me she has been something special since my husband was killed a year ago. She has spent many hours helping me with problems that seemed bigger than I could do alone. Her kind words, wisdom and advice have helped me many times. She is always willing to do thing she is asked, if she doesn't know at the time how to do it she finds a way. These are some of the reasons I recommend her for the Good Neighbor award.
