Juan Antonio - It Bountiful's WEST EDUIVTIFUL looks as though West Lakeside Golf Course has worked out a solution to its golf cart problem, but final action on the proposal will have to wait until the city council's next meeting on Feb. 18. Mike Bicker, pro at the facility, appeared before the council with what he called a lease-leas- e proposal. The plan would initially bring in 20 brand new carts for the coming season lease. After that, on a five-yethe course would lease 10 new carts each year. To cover the cost of the new Bicker suggested program, adding 50 cents to the cost of a nine-hol- e cart rental for Lakeside That would increase the players. cost of renting a cart for 18 hoLr. city-own- ar Davis County Clipper by $L Right now, we have 30 carts that are in good working order! Bicker said. Ten of those are three years old, 10 are four years old and the remaining 10 have been around for six years. The rest of the carts we have on hand, well, I couldn't guarantee they would get you through a round. Fie added that some carts are 3 years old and a few date back to 1982. With the new rental fee, Bicker said, there would be plenty of money to pay for the lease program. But some members of the council still had questions. James Behunin, for instance, wondered if adequate consideration had been given other options like n or purchasing the carts outright. Bicker replied that under that vpe of program, the course had a 12-1- lease-to-ow- Thomas Craig Larsen, 49, UI 1R speeding, open container, traffic offense, DUI alcohol. City recorder Beverly Haslam noted, however, that to be considered an action item, the package would have to be brought before the council in the form of a resolution. That means it will have to wait until the Feb. IS meeting. Behunin offered a motion asking staff to prepare just such a resolution on the series of golf course fee increases. William Quick seconded the motion, which passed by unanimous vote. In other council news, State Historical Society recognition of a West Bountiful Historic District has been approved. According to council member DeVan Pack, who has been working with the city's historic preservation committee, the district would include both Onion Street and 1000 North. WOODS CROSS Three men held up the Seven-Eleve- n store at 1515 S. 500 West, here Thursday night, leaving with about $100 to $120 in beer and cigarettes, but no money. Woods Cross Police Sgt. Brad Benson said the robbery occurred about 9:35 p.m. when three Thursday Polynesian males entered the store, went to the cooler and grabbed three suitcases of beer. Then, one of them walked the behind and counter grabbed cigarettes, Benson said. No weapon was displayed, but the clerk and four customers were threatened with being shot if they didnt coop Clipper Staff Writer - CENTERVILLE The City Engineer and other staff members unveiled a proposed new trail head near the top of Parrish Line for council members' review Tuesday. The existing spot, near the water tank has limited parking; and poses difficulties for trucks hauling horse trailers or off highway vehicle trailers. The proposed trail head, if approved by several different government bodies, will have a paved road taking off from the top of Parrish Lane. It will run up the hill through Davis County property and onto Forest Service ground. There an unpaved parking lot large enough to tum a truck or trailer rig around would be leveled. Most of the funds will come from a state grant. According to Blaine Lutz, assistant city manager, the city would like to put some minor improvements on the parking area such as bathrooms, a telephone, and drinking water. He said city officials were well aware of the problems facing Bountiful about use of a parking area near private homes. A few OHV users, near the Bountiful B, have made troublesome late night visits to home-owneasking to use their private bathrooms or telephones. The Forest Service is reluctant to put in these three improvements because they will be forced through the process of an Environmental Impact Study. erate. The trio then fled, without asking for money. It appeared to be a beer and cigarette run, Benson said. Benson said police have no vehicle description, but surveillance cameras got a good photo of one of the suspects. The other two were careful not to show their faces to the camera. The three, all in their mid-20were wearing hooded coats. Benson said one was about 5 foot 10 and about 200 pounds. Another was about 5 foot 5 and about 190 pounds, and the third was between 5 foot 10 and 6 feet tall and of medium build. s, MIRE & STERLINGS FL00RINC.CENTER sW Quik b Davis Countys Total Flooring Specialists! tian gift wrap and presented to the South Davis Fire District and North Salt Lke Police to show her appreciation.
