J rry Sherratt has the drive, the vision and the ability to get things done that this city so badly needs. His life has been marked by leadership, service and creativity. He has devoted his life o the process of higher education and to the people who provide it and receive it He spent 15 1/2 years as president of this university, and among his accomplishments were the near-tripling of enrollment, the advancement of faculty and staff salaries, 11 new buildings and the upgrading of the institution to a university. Previous to his tenure at SUU he was a director of student activities at two other state universities and a vice president at USU. He is the fpunder of both the Festival of the American West and the Utah Summer Games. H elected, he will put the same passion and vitality into being mayor as he did leading this university. He will ser.ve as a full-time mayor and accept no pay, instead turning his salary back to the good of the city. He's in favor of holding the line on taxes, and will have the time and energy to explore many and varied forms of other revenue that Cedar City can utilize. Those funds could provide a transportation system so that SUU students can take advantage of all the city and area has to offer-and be wants to offer more by bringing more businesses to town.
